Threading TypesThere are three different ways of sorting (or threading) messages: Date, Flat-Threaded, and Nested Tree.
If you use the Date method, each message will appear separately in the messages table, ordered by
date with the most recent message at the top. Clicking on the subject of a message will display it.
For more information about using the Date method, click here.
If you use the Flat-Threaded method, messages will be contained in threads. A thread consists of a
root message and all replies to that message. The messages table will consist of a list of threads,
ordered by the time of the last post to the thread, with the most recent at the top. Clicking on the
name of a thread will show you a page containing all the messages in that thread, with the most recent
message at the bottom. For more information about using the Flat-Threaded method, click here.
The Nested Tree method is similar to the Flat-Threaded method, in that the messages table consists of
a list of threads, with the most recently posted-to thread at the top. But if you click on the name of
a thread in the Nested Tree view, you will be shown the root message of the thread along with a nested
tree of replies to that message. For more information about using the Nested Tree method, click here.
